Why Jaisalmer should be on every travelers list
Now, i visited Jaisalmer a year ago ( i am writing about it today). Now the reason i am writing about it now it is because i recently visited Alwar - Sariska National Reserve and that jogged my memories about jaisalmer Fort and lake and everything. To be honest i am not that kind of girl that lives in here past
But my trip to Alwar kind of forced me to look back and i don't blame anyone cause this place is really amazing, right so lets Dive in shall we.
Abu Safari Hostel
Guys, This is the hostel i choose to spend my 3 days in the City. And i must say i did not regret my decision. This includes rooms perfect for any traveler’s budget and for luxury travelers. They ten private rooms and four mixed and female dorms, either with 7, 8, or 14 beds. All rooms have free wifi, beautiful Rajasthani decor, en suite bathrooms with hot and cold showers, room service, and a fan and AC to beat the desert heat. Private rooms also have TVs, and many rooms have stunning fort views, sunrise and sunset. They are also the people that provided us with our over night desert safari.
They also a fully fledged restaurant "Mamma Mia" at their terrace filled with Continental Dishes and that too in a Affordable price.
1. Jaisalmer Fort
Jaisalmer fort is now inhabited with the several generations of Servants that once served the king, apparently this fort is given by the king to his servants so that they can live in comfort.
2. Gadsisar Lake
The Gadsisar Lake is one of the most famous tourist places in Jaisalmer which was built by Raja Rawal Jaisal, In the later years Maharaja Garisisar Singh rebuilt it again . Its charm lies in the fact that it was the only source of water for the Jaisalmer city in the olden days and it is never dried as it receives water from Indira Gandhi canal.
3. Haunted Kuldhara Village
Now, By now you have gotten the clue that i love haunted place, So here it is another additional to my weird taste - kuldhara the abandoned village of Jaisalmer. Now there are various versions of why this site become Haunted (i don't think so) that a the lecherous minister Salim Singh had ordered every girl in the village to sleep with him (what a pervert) and threatened the villagers if they did not agree to this he will impose large amount of taxes on every one of them and so under the pressure all the villagers committed suicide.
4. Overnight Desert Safari
If only i would write about this in words. This was the best part of my Jaisalmer Trip. We rode on Camel Yes Camels. Oh my God this was the best part. And like the legend says they are smelly but so sweet. My Camel was named after a Big Bollywood Star " Shahrukh" ( if you don't know who is he then Google him. You are welcome). Our desert camp was 45km from the city on a jeep. On arrival, there is a 5 km camel safari to our camp. we camped just 30 km away from the Pakistani border. And had a Bonfire we danced, shared weird stories and then in the morning came back to civilization. Though sleeping under the open sky for the first time away from home with stranger was so fun. There were no bathrooms available so i went bathroom in the open as well (I don't wanna talk about it). And the backaches were a real deal. Though it was all worth it.
5. Patwonji ki Haveli
I mean i knew that this city is Gorgeous asf but i never thought that a normal street in this city will look like this.
This is Patwonji ki haveli. First of all it is a very curious piece of Architecture and is the most important among the haveli's in Jaisalmer. The reason behind it being so valuable is , first that it was the first haveli erected in Jaisalmer and second, that it is not a single haveli but a cluster of 5 small haveli's. Now it was built by Guman Chand Patwa. This haveli is mindblowing beautiful and i am not even lying. It's a one of a kind thing you know. This is the largest Haveli in Jaisalmer and stands in a narrow lane. This haveli is presently occupied by the government, which uses it for various purposes. The office of the Archeological Survey of India and State art and craft department is situated in the haveli itself.
6. Puppet show
It will be a real let down if you came to jaisalmer and didn't watch the best puppet show in India that is cause Jaisalmer has one of the original Puppet show going on since Independence days.
So this is how my Jaisalmer Trip went by. I went completely broke after this trip but i had an abundance of memories.
BTW i did this trip with my Friend Samarika issar so be sure to check her profile out as well.
And so tell in the comment section what do u think about this Trip
